It will be a place for me to talk about my experiences with and ideas about graphic design. I enjoy every type of design from priceless paintings in a museum, to meticulously coded web pages. My goals as a designer are to always strive to become better, learn as much as I can from my colleagues & surroundings, and have fun doing what I love!Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16822740945139292982noreply@blogger.comBlogger59125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6773397554485949008.post-77996666554121439382011-08-25T17:50:00.000-07:002011-08-25T17:59:59.948-07:00Summer Days are Coming to an End<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-x-oEwnKkS-I/TlbvUGCb4JI/AAAAAAAAAc8/SkR9PqT-kw4/s1600/solar_mag_ad.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 345px; height: 247px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-x-oEwnKkS-I/TlbvUGCb4JI/AAAAAAAAAc8/SkR9PqT-kw4/s400/solar_mag_ad.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5644962311452745874" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Hopefully their readers are not looking at this magazine at night!</i></div><div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>The end of summer is almost here...can you tell I've been busy? I haven't done a new blog entry in ages (oops!). I have had a lot of quality time indoors this summer...when you live in Antelope Valley where temps in the 100s are the norm, you learn very quickly to stay out of the sun.<div>
<br /></div><div>However, you need the sun to appreciate this magazine ad...it is solar activated (how cool is that?!?). I don't know what inks/paper they use to pull this off, but it is really cool.</div><div>
<br /></div><div>Just make sure you are wearing sunscreen when you are looking at it!</div><div>

It is called <a href="http://www.justinsnutbutter.com/index.php">Justin's</a> Almond Butter, and it is amazing!! I love the design of the packaging, and the taste of the product is just as good. Another plus is that it comes in small 1 oz. packages, so you can try it before you buy it (the full size product is kinda pricy at $12.00 for a 16 oz. jar). If you like peanut butter, I dare you to try this product!</div><div><br /></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wNahsXhD-ag/TNSFYvwYP_I/AAAAAAAAAYg/lZug8i6J8Nw/s1600/P1010079.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 308px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_wNahsXhD-ag/TNSFYvwYP_I/AAAAAAAAAYg/lZug8i6J8Nw/s400/P1010079.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536196502127919090" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Proof that simple packaging works, especially with all-natural food items. The packaging design makes me think that there isn't a lot of nonsense and fillers in this product, and I'm right! There are only 4 ingredients, and 2 (almonds & maple sugar) are featured in the clever illustration. It has been my favorite snack lately...on celery sticks, apples, and by itself!</i></div><div><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div>Hollyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16822740945139292982noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6773397554485949008.post-78230401496595022302010-10-27T21:11:00.000-07:002010-10-27T21:21:33.995-07:00Cool Halloween Poster<div style="text-align: left;">I saw this poser in downtown LA while I was shopping. I'm not against Helvetica, I think American Apparel does a wonderful job incorporating the typeface into their identity (see below), but Gap's redesign seems to have cheapened their image.</div><div><br /></div><div>Tons of people Tweeted about the recent change, with one saying "The new Gap logo looks as if it were done in Microsoft Word"...ouch, that hurts.
